Clean water, fewer sick children

In Torit, a broken water point forced families to collect water from unsafe sources. Children under five were especially vulnerable to waterborne illness.
HWW’s WASH work rehabilitated the point, trained hygiene promoters, and helped form a village water committee responsible for maintenance and fee collection.
Deng now leads that committee. ‘Clean water is not charity for one day,’ he says. ‘It is a system our community owns — and our children are healthier because of it.’
